Hownd achieved the status of being in the top 100 most ethical companies. In 2024, the independent company Hownd was bought by Pet’s Choice to increase their sustainable range. In December 2025, Pets Choice removed Hownd as one of their brands from their website and they no longer produce any 10kg bags of Hownd dry food and there are supply issues with the 2kg bags – such sadness when an ethical company is bought out by a meat-based corporate as there is more profit to be made in the byproducts of the animal agriculture industry than in sustainability.
